About
This mid-size tote features a structured, rectangular base and durable handles that can be slung over your shoulder or carried in your hand. This unique tape yarn held double creates a thick, sturdy fabric that will hold its shape and keep your belongings safe. Simple stitches and tutorial photos make this pattern perfect for the beginner crocheter.

Materials
Yarn: Bulky* held double–Lion Brand Rewind in colorway “Willow”
- 70% Polyester, 30% Viscose
- 219 yds (200 m) per 3.5 oz (100 g) skein
- Find this yarn on lionbrand.com or visit yarnsub.com to find comparable substitutes
* Note that this yarn is labeled a bulky weight yarn but feels more like a worsted weight yarn
Yardage: 6 skeins or 1150 yds (1052 m)
Yarn Substitution: Substitute Lion Brand Rewind with any similar worsted weight (category #4) or bulky weight (category #5) tape yarn that matches gauge. Non-tape yarns will work too. Always swatch before beginning to ensure you are happy with the resulting fabric.
Hook: Size U.S. H/8 (5 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge
Notions: Tapestry needle, scissors, and 8 locking stitch markers
Finished Measurements
A – Circumference: 38.5” / 98 cm
B – Base Width: 10” / 25 cm
C – Height (Measured at Center): 12.5” / 32 cm

Gauge
4 x 4” (10 x 10 cm) = 11 sc and 13 rows

Pattern Notes
Skill Level: Easy
Stitch Counts: Stitch counts are listed after each row/round. If no stitch count is provided, there has been no change since the previous row/round.
Right Side / Wrong Side: The right side of the bag is the side with the visible ridge around the perimeter of the base (see photo below). The right side will face you as you crochet the handles and all even-numbered rounds on the body of your bag.
Yarn Held Double: To increase strength and durability, this entire bag is worked with yarn held double, meaning two strands of yarn are held together and used as if they were one. At no point should you ever be crocheting with just one strand unless you have substituted a thicker yarn in place of Lion Brand Rewind.
Turning Chain: The turning chain does not count as a stitch anywhere in this pattern.
Construction: To begin this bag, you will crochet a long rectangle for the base. You will crochet around the perimeter of this rectangle, working joined, turned rounds. Next, you will divide your round into two sections, working back and forth for two symmetrical sides. Lastly, you will crochet the handles around the top edge of your bag.
