New 2020 Summer Collection – 5 Crochet Patterns You Won’t Want To Miss (Pattern Book!)

Hey friends!

Last fall, while the weather was getting chilly, I was designing my 2020 summer collection in collaboration with WeCrochet. It feels so good to finally be able to spill the beans on these 5 new designs! The collection is called Cool Crochet for Warm Days: A Knits ‘N Knots Collection. This has been one of my proudest projects to date and I hope you love it!

Learn about all 5 patterns below. Click the one you like to read more about it.

This entire collection is size-inclusive; graded in 9 sizes from XS-5XL.

1. Seashore Tank

The Seashore Tank is a scoop-neck tank top featuring thick straps and a lace back panel. The entire back panel of this tank top is comprised of a delicate, open, lacy shell-stitch pattern. This tank top is made with Curio #3 (100% Cotton) in Tea Rose; alternate (brown) colourway shown: Hawk.

Styling tip: To wear this top with the open back panel without any bra straps showing, try wearing it with a sticky bra, pasties, or a bra with a bandeau over top.

2. Wings of a Butterfly Tank

This reversible tank top features a V-neck on one side, and a high neck on the other. Wear it however you feel most comfortable, or make two identical panels. The bottom hem features a lacy section resembling that of a butterfly (or a flower!) and adds so much visual interest to this piece. This top is worked bottom up in 2 panels and seamed together. This top is made with Cotlin DK (70% Tanguis Cotton, 30% Linen) in colourway Copper.

3. Dancing in the Sun Wrap

This triangle wrap exudes bohemian vibes, with mesh panels that let you feel the air kiss your skin and fringe that can dance in the wind. Calling all free spirits – this is the perfect wrap to wear on all your summer adventures.

This massive triangle wrap features alternating sections of mesh and solid stitches to give a really delicate, lacy vibe to this otherwise simple shape. I love the way the variegated yarn looks so different in these two stitch types. I also added fringe to my piece, but you can omit this if you prefer it to be fringe-less. This wrap uses 4 hanks of fingering weight yarn called Hawthorne Multi (80% Superwash Fine Highland Wool; 20% Polyamide) in the colourway Lovejoy.

4. Golden Leaves Wrap

Say hello to not-your-average-shawl. This dramatic, oversized piece is composed entirely of double crochets and chains to create this delicate fabric of leaves strung together, spanning the entire shawl. The drape on this rectangular wrap is unmatched, and this statement piece is sure to elevate any outfit! As the wind breathes life into your wrap, watch the leaves dance in the breeze. This shawl uses Hawthorne Kettle Dye (80% Superwash Fine Highland Wool; 20% Polyamide) in colourway Compass.

5. Safari Maxi Dress

I saved the best for last. The Safari Maxi Dress is the ultimate crochet statement piece. Crochet is often used as an accessory to your outfit, but here – it’s the main feature. This dress shows just how sophisticated crochet can be. Perfectly balancing elegant and casual, only using basic stitches and thoughtful shaping, this dress is sure to flatter your figure, whatever your body type is. Much of the shaping can be customized to fit your body the way you want it to. Dress it up or dress is down to match your personal style. This dress uses Lindy Chain (70% Linen, 30% Pima Cotton) in Serrano.

This collection was so fun to design, and it really allowed me to push the envelope on what I thought was possible to achieve with crochet. It was my first time designing a dress, my first time using a 2.35mm hook (man is that ever tiny!) and my first time designing such an intricate pattern (Golden Leaves Wrap). It really allowed me to grow as a designer and has given me the confidence to create even more garments that really turn crochet on its head and demonstrate how sophisticated and sexy crochet can be.

Working with WeCrochet has truly been the greatest pleasure and I hope to bring you more collaborations with them in the future!

Note: Individual patterns + a physical copy of the book will be available in the weeks to follow.

I’d love for you to leave me a comment below and tell me what your favourite piece, and why!

xx
