Yarn: Worsted—Lion Brand Heartland in Grand Canyon

Gauge

4 Shell repeats wide = 6” (15 cm)

9 Shell repeats high = 4” (10 cm)

For Swatch:

Ch 39, then follow pattern as written until work measures approximately 6” (15 cm) high.

Your swatch must always be larger than the area you are measuring to get the most accurate representation of the fabric you are creating. When taking your measurement, be sure to measure only the innermost stitches of your swatch (never the edge stitches) to get the most accurate measurement.

Pattern Notes

Skill Level: Advanced Beginner

Sizing: This poncho is written in five sizes as follows: XS (S/M, L/XL, 2X/3X, 4X/5X). Make sure to follow the numbers for your size only. See next page for sizing information.

Stitch Counts: Stitch counts are listed after each row. If no stitch count is given, there has been no change since the previous row.

Reversible: There is no right side or wrong side; both sides are identical. Whichever side you choose to wear as the “right side” is your preference.

Turning Chain: When the turning chain is a ch-3, it counts as 1 double crochet, but when the turning chain is a ch-1, it does not count as a stitch.

Measurements

The turtleneck measures 20” (51 cm) in circumference and 8.5” (22 cm) in height, unfolded, for all sizes. Instructions are included on how to adjust height and circumference, if desired.

Each panel measures approximately 28 (30, 32, 34, 36)” [71 (76, 81, 86, 94) cm] in length.

Each panel measures approximately 25.5 (27, 28.5, 30, 31.5)” [65 (69, 72, 76, 80) cm] in width.

Note that panels will stretch slightly with wear.

Which Size Should I Make?

Below is my recommendation as to which size you should follow based on your measurements; however, feel free to deviate from these suggestions. The panel dimensions are provided above; choose whichever size you think would fit you best.

XS – Make this size if your bust circumference is 28-30” (71-76 cm).

S/M – Make this size if your bust circumference is 32-38” (81-97 cm).

L/XL – Make this size if your bust circumference is 40-46” (102-117 cm).

2X/3X – Make this size if your bust circumference is 48-54” (122-137 cm).

4X/5X – Make this size if your bust circumference is 56-62” (142-157 cm).

Sample shown in photos is the size S/M on a size medium with a 36” (91 cm) bust. Model is 5’4.
