About
The wavy Jefferson Scrap Scarf uses a different color of yarn for each row to create this colorful granny stitch scarf. You will need approximately 40 yds (37 m) of worsted weight yarn per row, so take a look at your stash and see what scraps you can use up!
Materials
Yarn: Various colors of worsted weight, medium, category #4 yarn (sample shown uses 16 colors for 16 rows)
Sample shown uses the following Lion Brand yarns: Touch of Alpaca, Basic Stitch, Wool-Ease, Vanna’s Choice, and Color Theory
Yardage Required: 695 yds (636 m) total
- You will need 40 yds (37 m) each of 16 different worsted weight yarns (1 yarn for each row).
- If adjusting scarf width, adjust by 40 yds (37 m) for each row.
- You will need 55 (50 m) of one color for the fringe.
Hook: Size U.S. 7 (4.5 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge
Notions: Tapestry needle, an object measuring approximately 6” (15 cm) in length to wrap yarn around to create fringe (such as your phone, a book, a piece of cardboard, etc.)
Measurements
Finished scarf should measure approximately 13” (33 cm) in width (measured from peak to peak) and 60” (152 cm) in length, not including fringe.
Gauge
4 x 4” (10 x 10 cm) = 4 granny cluster repeats and 8 rows

Pattern Notes
Skill Level: Beginner
Stitch Counts: Stitch counts are listed after each row. If no stitch count is given, there has been no change since the previous row.
Reversible: There is no right side or wrong side; both sides are identical. Whichever side you choose to wear as the “right side” is your preference.
Turning Chain: The turning chain does not count as a stitch.
Changing Colors Seamlessly: Use a new color for each row. When working the last stitch of an old color, work the stitch as usual, but use the new color to do your final yarn over and pull through to close the stitch. Then, you may cut the old color and continue stitching with the new color.
