About

A few months ago, I ordered 5 balls of Palette Twist, all different colours. I knew I wanted to make a wrap with them, but I was feeling bored of a simple triangle wrap. I thought it might be fun to start off with a triangle, and then alter the shape into something else! I actually intended to make a rectangle, but I did my math wrong and it turned into a trapezoid (lol) but I’m not mad about it!

This piece is a really simple, beginner-friendly pattern with no complicated stitches or techniques. Just straight double crochet! You can easily modify it by changing up the striping pattern, or working the initial triangle shape larger or smaller than mine. Even if you change the number of rows in the triangle, you can still follow the pattern instructions just the same.

Materials

To make the Kinetic Wrap, you will need:

  • 5 balls of Knit Picks/We Crochet Palette yarn
I used the new Twist colourways:

    • Asphalt – 1 ball – 145 yds required
    • Grizzly – 1 ball – 187 yds required
    • Briar – 1 ball – 230 yds required
    • Pumice – 1 ball – 229 yds required
    • Marble – 1 ball  – 89 yds required
  • 4.5mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
  • Tapestry needle for weaving ends or pick up this “Ends Weaver” from the Hook Nook!

Gauge

4” = 14.5 sts x 10 rows in double crochet worked flat, blocked.

* I’m known to have quite a loose gauge so please block your swatch!

Pattern Notes

Yarn: Sample shown has five colours of stripes, but feel free to make up your own striping pattern. This pattern is written so that you can use 1 ball per colour without needing to break into a second ball of any one colour.

Construction: This wrap is worked in a triangular shape until reaching the desired depth. Next, two edges are worked separately to give a trapezoidal shape to this piece. Work the colour changes shown below at the same time as you follow the written pattern.

Abbreviations

Written in US Crochet terms

ch: chain

ch-sp: chain space

dc: double crochet

dc2tog: double crochet 2 sts together

rep: repeat

sk: skip

st(s): stitch(es)
