The Walker Ridge Baby Blanket features the classic granny stitch with a ridged border detail to lend a pop of texture. This timeless design is perfect for gifting and is sure to become a beloved heirloom piece for the little ones in your life.

Materials

Yarn: DK—Lion Brand Baby Soft® Yarn in colorway “Grey Print”

  • 60% Acrylic, 40% Nylon
  • 367 yds (335 m) per 4 oz (113 g) skein
  • Find this yarn on lionbrand.com or visit yarnsub.com to find comparable substitutes available in your region.

Yardage: 4 skeins or 1350 (1234 m)

Yarn Substitution: Substitute Lion Brand Baby Soft® Yarn with any similar light, DK-weight (category #3) yarn that matches gauge.

Hook: Size U.S. F/5 (3.75 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge

Notions: Tapestry needle, scissors

Gauge

Granny Cluster Gauge

3 x 3” (8 x 8 cm) = approximately 4 granny cluster reps and 4 rows, blocked.

Double Crochet Gauge

4 x 4” (10 x 10 cm) = approximately 17 dc and 9 rows, blocked.

 

Finished Measurements

This blanket measures approximately 29” (74 cm) square, blocked.

This was the project I was working on when my partner and I got engaged 🙂

Pattern Notes

Skill Level: Easy

Stitch Counts: Stitch counts are listed after each round.

Right Side/Wrong Side: The right side will be facing you as you crochet each even-numbered round. The side with the ridge is intended to be displayed as the right side.

Turning Chain: The beginning chain (ch-3) counts as the first double crochet of each round.

Construction: This blanket is worked in concentric rounds, beginning with a magic ring at the very center.

  • beg: beginning
  • ch(s): chain(s)
  • ch-sp: chain space
  • cluster: this refers to a group of 3 double crochets worked into the same space
  • dc: double crochet
  • fpdc: front post double crochet
  • hdc: half double crochet
  • magic ring: see photo tutorial on page 5
  • rep(s): repeat(s)
  • rnd(s): round(s)
  • RS: right side
  • sl st(s): slip stitch(es)
  • st(s): stitch(es)
  • WS: wrong side
