About
Back in February, I was browsing the Lion Brand website to find some new yarns to play with. I came across Hand Dyed Heaven and fell in love with the bright speckles on a plain white base. Sometimes I find that speckled yarn is too much for me, but these, I loved.
This pattern is a collaboration with Lion Brand and will be available as a knitting kit later this month which will include a digital PDF copy of the pattern and all the yarn required for your size in your desired colourway.
The Speckled Dreams sweater is a classic circular yoke sweater knit seamlessly from the top-down. It features simple short rows, tubular bind-off, and 2×2 rib at the collar, cuffs, and hem. (I love the look of 2×2 rib!)
Techniques to Practice
These are the techniques used in this pattern. Links are included in the actual pattern file as well!
- Long Tail Cast-On
- Casting on Stitches at Underarm
- Wrap & Turn
- RLI: Right Lifted Increase
- Knit into the right leg of the stitch below the first stitch on your left needle
- Tubular Bind-Off in 2×2 rib
- Helpful blog post explaining it in detail
- Tubular Bind-Off (my fav video to watch for this technique once work is properly set-up in 1×1 rib)
- SSK: Slip slip knit (left-slanting single decrease)
- Slip 1 st knit-wise onto right needle, slip 1 st purlwise onto right needle, insert left needle through both slipped sts and knit them together.

This chart shows finished garment measurements. Sweater is designed to be worn with up to 2-7” of positive ease. When choosing a size, find the bust measurement in this chart that equals approx. 2-7” larger than your actual bust measurement (depending on how much positive ease you would like) and make this size. For example, model has 34” bust and is wearing a size small with finished garment bust measurement of 39.5”, worn with 5.5” of positive ease.
