Puffed Up Fringe Scarf – Butterfly Puff Stitches with Fringe Crochet Pattern
Hey guys!
Here’s my latest pattern – the Puffed Up Fringe Scarf. It uses 3 skeins of Lion Brand Scarfie, and just warning you – this stitch pattern is a little addicting! Find the pattern on Ravelry here, or keep reading for more info, links, and a coupon code!

About
I named this pattern the Puffed Up Fringe Scarf for 2 reasons:
- There are puff stitches in it, duh!
- In Seinfeld, there’s a scene where Elaine says to Jerry: “You’re all puffed up!” when he’s wearing the infamous “puffy shirt”. (Big Seinfeld fan over here)
This is a GREAT pattern to follow if you make and sell finished items in an Etsy shop or at markets! It’s a pattern you can make on repeat if you need to build market stock or take orders. I could (and probably will) make this scarf over and over again just to I can have it in every colour.
If you’re a beginner crocheter or just learning to read patterns, this may be a great place to start. I included a few photo tutorials for the finishing and for attaching fringe (like the photo below). If you’ve never added fringe to a project before, I got you!
Construction
This design is pretty simple! It starts with a foundation row, and then works 9 butterfly puff stitches across. The butterfly puff row is repeated until you’ve reached your desired scarf length!
The entire scarf is a 1-row repeat. I love when a project looks a lot more complicated than it really is!
Yarn
Like I said, this scarf uses 3 skeins of Lion Brand Scarfie. I chose Scarfie because I wanted a gradient yarn that you could find anywhere. Scarfie is sold at all Michaels Stores (and I think most Walmarts, as well) so if you live near a Michaels, you can likely find this yarn. If not, you can shop online here! The entire scarf is made with about 2 and a half skeins, so you could make it even longer than I have listed in the description within the pattern if you wanted to use up the entire 3rd skein.
Scarfie is 78% acrylic and 22% wool. It’s got the softness of acrylic with the warmth and fuzziness of wool. It’s the perfect blend and I love the texture it gives the scarf. I used the colour: Cream/Taupe, but there are a ton of colours you can choose from whether you’re a neutral-lover like me or a fan of pops of colour.
