About

The name Misty Valley was chosen for this scarf to reflect the hazy, blurred effect of the wool stitches combined with the undulating rows resembling peaks and valleys. This yarn lends a slight halo effect to the crocheted fabric, minimizing the stitch definition and creating a fuzzy texture resembling mohair. This causes the stitches to delicately blend together; an effect that pairs beautifully with this textured stitch pattern. Palette was specifically chosen for this design due to the vast array of colour options and its budget-friendly nature. This accessible yarn is comprised of 100% wool, creating a warm, breathable, insulating scarf that will keep you comfortable all winter long.

Inspired by colour schemes commonly seen in the 60s and 70s, avocado-green and mustard-yellow were chosen to bring a vintage feel to this modern design. The long, elegant scarf features wavy rows of puff stitches and asymmetrical blocks of striping to add depth to the fabric and bring unexpected textural elements to this otherwise simple piece. Personalize your scarf by adding fringe, tassels, extra length, additional accent colours, or by creating your own striping pattern for a truly custom piece.

Pattern Notes

Turning Chain: The turning chain does not count as a stitch.

Stitch Counts: Stitch counts are listed after each row. If no stitch count is given, there has been no change since the previous row.

Reversible: Whichever side you choose to wear as the “right side” is your preference.

Striping Pattern:  Follow the striping pattern provided below as you follow the row-by-row instructions.

How to Seamlessly Change Colours: When working the last stitch of an old colour, work the stitch as usual, but use the new colour to do your final yarn-over and pull-through to close the stitch. Then, you may cut the old colour and continue stitching with the new colour.

Customization Tips: Opt for a solid colour scarf without the two sections of striping. Continue the striping pattern throughout the entire scarf or make up your own striping pattern for a scarf that feels uniquely you.

Skill Level: Easy

Construction: This wavy scarf is worked in a 2-row repeat: a row of double crochets and puff stitches followed by a row of single crochet stitches.

Final Dimensions: 72” [183 cm] long, 16” [41 cm] wide, blocked.
