About
Choose two contrasting colors for your oversized statement cardigan, crocheted in the houndstooth stitch, a two-toned variation of the lemon peel stitch. The term “coatigan” is a hybrid between a coat and a cardigan, named as such because when you working the back and front panels, the non-working color is carried across each row, creating a warm, dense fabric.
This is one of my first ever patterns to have an accompanying video tutorial!

Substitute Lion Brand Basic Stitch with any similar category 4 (worsted) medium weight yarn that matches gauge. Always swatch before beginning to ensure you are happy with the resulting fabric.
Hook: Size U.S. 7 (4.5 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge
Notions: Tapestry needle, several locking stitch markers (at least 8)
Gauge
4 x 4” (10 x 10 cm) = 14 sts and 12 rows in the houndstooth stitch, blocked.
For Swatch:
Using CC, ch 23, follow instructions from Back Panel until you have at least 18 rows completed.

Block your swatch the same way you would block your finished cardigan. Measure the inner 4″ (10 cm) of your blocked swatch to get the most accurate measurement. Within 4” (10 cm), you should have 14 sts and 12 rows in order to achieve the finished measurements in the Sizing Chart.
