Caron Latte Scarf – Fuzzy Striped Scarf Easy Crochet Pattern

Hi friends!

Today I’ve got a new scarf pattern for you called the Caron Latte Scarf! Click here to shop the pattern or continue reading for more info + a coupon code!

About

I’ve been seeing so many new cake yarns at Michael’s lately, and I wanted to try one of them out! I thought this Caron Latte Cakes yarn was really pretty, so I picked up one of those, found a pretty stitch in my stitch book, and got to work.

This piece is a beginner-friendly crochet accessory for those who want to try a fun stitch pattern that is slightly more challenging than straight single crochet, double crochet, or half double. This scarf is created with a stitch pattern called V-Stitch Columns to create a uniquely textured scarf with columns of closed stitches and columns of chain spaces. This stitch combination creates a flexible, less bulky crochet fabric than using basic closed stitches alone. This scarf is perfect for somebody who has only crocheted simple rectangles and is looking for that next step! This scarf is still a rectangle, but it incorporates a few different stitches to create a really fun, textured stitch pattern for a fun, new challenge.

Construction

First, you’ll be instructed to work a foundation chain, and don’t worry if you’ve never worked one of these before! I tell you exactly how to do it in the pattern – so don’t let that stop you! Foundation stitches are magical – they allow you to work your initial chain together with your first row of stitches to avoid that super tight chain that never matches the stretch of the rest of your crochet fabric!

This scarf is worked in back-and-forth rows until your desired length, and the yarn does all the striping for you.

If you’re interested in adjusting the pattern, I would try working it up while holding another yarn! A solid colour yarn held together with this fuzzy yarn would give a really unique texture and add some bulk!

Yarn

This is my first time using Caron Latte Cakes, and I was pleasantly surprised! I love the texture of this yarn, and it came in some really nice colours. You could also use any yarn you like for this project, too, if you don’t have access to Caron Latte Cakes!

Canadian Link:

The yarn used is Caron Latte Cakes which is a fuzzy, super soft yarn in the form of a yarn cake with self striping colourwork. You don’t have to worry about adding in new colours, the yarn does it all for you!

Next up for me – a chunky version!

Some other self-striping yarns you could try:

1. Lion Brand Mandala Baby

2. Lion Brand Scarfie

3. Lion Brand Cupcake

4. Bernat Pop! Bulky

5. Bernat Pipsqueak Stripes Yarn

Adjust your hook size as necessary, and adjust scarf width by working a foundation chain to desired width, as long as you have an odd number of stitches.
