Bridgeland Wrap – Elegant Cabled Scarf with Slip Stitch Cables + Fringe
Hi everyone!
This post includes everything you need to know about the Bridgeland Wrap – an elegant cabled scarf to match my Bridgeland Beanie that is knit in one of my favourite new worsted weight yarns: Lion Brand Color Theory!
Color Theory is a brand new line of yarn designed by Alexandra Tavel of Two of Wands, in collaboration with Lion Brand. (I love everything Alexi does, so a new yarn line was super exciting to me!) Color Theory is the second yarn line added to the bulky weight version, Hue And Me.

ABOUT
The delicate cabling on the Bridgeland Wrap creates an elegant, textured fabric and can even be knit without a cable needle! (See the abbreviations list below for an explanation on how to work the cables without a cable needle.) This is one of my absolute favourite types of cable – this stitch just provides the most beautiful texture to any fabric and I can’t get enough of it!
MATERIALS
Yarn: Worsted—Lion Brand Color Theory in Ivory
- 100% Acrylic
- 246 yds (225 m) per 3.5 oz (100 g) skein
- Find this yarn on lionbrand.com or visit yarnsub.com for a list of substitutes
- Grab the kit here!
Yardage: 5 skeins or 1107 yds (1013 m)
If substituting Color Theory, choose any similar, category #4 worsted weight yarn that matches gauge. Most fiber types should work out fine. Always swatch before beginning to ensure you are happy with the resulting fabric.
Needles: Size U.S. 9 (5.5 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge
Notions: Tapestry needle, 2 fixed stitch markers, a crochet hook that will fit through your stitches for adding fringe, an object measuring approximately 6” (15 cm) in length to wrap yarn around to create fringe (such as your phone, a book, a piece of cardboard, etc.) and a cable needle (optional).
MEASUREMENTS
All measurements given are after a light steam blocking.
Finished wrap measures approximately 14” (36 cm) in width and 73” (185 cm) in length, not including fringe, lying flat.
Note that this cable pattern has a lot of stretch and could be blocked out more aggressively to get a larger width if desired.
GAUGE
7 cable repeats = approximately 7.5” (19 cm) wide, 6.5” (16.5 cm) tall, lightly blocked.
ABBREVIATIONS
C3F: Cable 3 forward – Slip 1 st to cable needle and hold in front of work, k2 from left needle, k1 off cable needle.
- To do so without a cable needle: Slip the next st off your needle and hold it in front of your work, k2 from your left needle, re-insert your left needle into the dropped st and knit this st off.
C3B: Cable 3 back – Slip 2 sts to cable needle and hold in back of work, k1 from left needle, k2 off cable needle.
- To do so without a cable needle: Without slipping any sts off your left needle, insert your right needle into the 3rd st on your left needle (as if to knit) and knit this stitch (this will look like your working yarn is crossing over the first 2 sts), then knit the 1st st on your left needle, then the 2nd, and slip all three sts off your left needle.
k: knit
p: purl

PATTERN NOTES
Skill Level: Advanced Beginner
To adjust the width: For wider (or narrower) wrap, add more (work fewer) cable repeats by casting on additional (fewer) stitches in multiples of 8, then continue to follow the pattern as written. Note that this will alter the required yardage.
