The BLOOM Collection – Hand Dyed Yarn + Patterns [Summer 2022]

Hi everyone!

This year I’m adding a brand new stream to Knits ‘N Knots: new yarn line!

Dyeing yarn has always been in the long-term plan for Knits ‘N Knots and, while my goal is not to become a full-time yarn dyer and abandon my pattern-writing, I am so excited to add this new element to my business. For the last few years, I’ve spent my time writing patterns and collaborating with yarn companies (and that won’t change), and I thought why not create some new designs with my own yarn?

The Bloom Collection: Yarn + Patterns

Introducing the first official Knits ‘N Knots hand-dyed yarn collection, BLOOM, inspired by the soft colours of various garden flowers. This floral-inspired collection contains 10 meticulously dyed colourways intended to mix and match with one another, 3 brand new patterns (2 crochet, 1 knit), and 2 yarn kits!

The Yarn: 10 Colourways

There are 10 hand-dyed colourways for this collection – here’s the whole gang!

There are 7 tonals: Peony, Dahlia, Calla Lily, Blue Poppy, Hydrangea, Lilac, and Vintage Rose

There are 2 variegated colourways: Tulip (blending Peony and Dahlia together), and Morning Dew (blending Calla Lily and Blue Poppy together)

There is 1 speckled colourway: Garden Party (pink + purple speckles with some soft Calla Lily sections), scroll down to see this colourway in more depth!

These colourways include: 7 tonals, 2 variegated, and 1 speckled.

The 3 Brand New Patterns + Kits

I created three brand new patterns using these yarns shown above! There are 2 crochet patterns and 1 knitting pattern. Two of them are available as knit/crochet kits that come with a free copy of the pattern PDF!

1) The Bloom Bralette

The Bloom Bralette is crocheted in our fingering weight base, shown in Hydrangea.

This pattern is made for YOU. I asked you in the summer of 2021 what you thought was lacking in terms of crochet bralettes, and you said plus size bralettes, and bralettes that can be worn with a bra! I heard ya loud and clear and I designed the Bloom Bralette: a size-inclusive bralette that can be worn with a bra. Oh, and it’s super customizable in terms of everything from ease to length to strap width. It’s everything you want, and more.

2) The Knits ‘N Dots Cardigan

The Knits ‘N Dots Cardigan is knit in our DK weight base, shown in Lilac.

This circular yoke cardigan is knit seamlessly from the top-down. This cropped, fitted silhouette pairs especially well with high-waisted bottoms, or layered over a summery dress. You’ll love knitting the subtle bobbles sprinkled through two rows, adding a fun pop of texture to the yoke of your sweater. The matching ribbing around the neckline, collar, bottom hem, and sleeve cuffs brings a touch of sophistication to this otherwise simple piece. Designed with a classic fit, this versatile cropped cardigan looks great on folks of all shapes and sizes and can be easily paired with your existing wardrobe.

3) The Sugar Valley Wrap

The Sugar Valley Wrap is crocheted in our fingering weight base, shown in Hydrangea, Calla Lily, and Cream (Cream is not included in the yarn pre-order however you can order it with this specific kit)!

The Sugar Valley Wrap is a trapezoidal shawl comprised of dozens of multi-coloured triangles crocheted using the intarsia colourwork method. Crocheted in just the double crochet stitch, this beginner-friendly wrap is the perfect project for distracted crocheting. This pattern is easy to customize in terms of size, and additional sections of triangles can be added for a larger shawl, if desired.
